Week 9 kicks off in Baltimore with a game that looks completely different than it did a week ago. The Ravens are turning to an undrafted rookie quarterback, and the surging Jaguars are nearly double-digit road favorites. Hard Rock Bet is offering new users the chance to bet $5 and get $500 in No Sweat Bets, with a token waiting for you every day for 10 days.
The Ravens seemingly lost their season in a single afternoon. Lamar Jackson jammed his right thumb on the first snap in Buffalo and is now on injured reserve after surgery. Tyler Huntley suffered a turf toe injury that’s reportedly season-ending, and Skylar Thompson was already on IR. That puts Joe Fagnano, an undrafted rookie with an ankle injury, under center on a short week. In relief last Sunday, he completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with an interception and a lost fumble.
Baltimore has dropped three straight and sits at 4-4. Its offense managed just 10 points against the Bills.
The Jaguars are 5-2 and lead the AFC South with the NFL’s best point differential at +85. They beat the Colts 42-7 last week, and Trevor Lawrence has 17 touchdowns against four interceptions. Jacksonville’s defense has been just as impressive, and it gets a rookie quarterback with almost no NFL experience.
Everyone is focused on the spread, but the total might be the better bet. Baltimore’s game plan writes itself: run the ball, keep Fagnano out of long passing downs and drain the clock. That approach shortens the game no matter what the scoreboard says.
Jacksonville doesn’t need to push the pace either. If the Jaguars build a lead, they’ll lean on the run and protect Lawrence in a short-week road game. A grinding, low-possession night with one offense struggling to move the ball is a recipe for the under. Combine that with the sloppiness that comes with Thursday football, and 42.5 looks like a high number for a game Baltimore is trying to keep ugly.
Use your first No Sweat Bet token on the under, and if it doesn’t hit, you get the stake back as a bonus bet to use on Sunday’s slate.
