You are on the Mark, Teixeira. After Tuesday’s election, Texas will be getting a Tex message.
The World Series champion won election to the U.S. House in Texas’ 21st Congressional District, defeating Democrat Kristin Hook. Republican Rep. Chip Roy currently holds the seat, but he decided not to seek re-election, opening the door for Teixeira.
“Tonight’s victory belongs to the people of Texas’s 21st District. I’m not going to Washington for myself, but rather to be a strong, responsive voice for every family in this district,” Teixeira posted on X.

“Together, we can build a better future for our families, our neighbors, and every community across Texas 21. I’m excited to get to work. I will be praying for all of you and for the future of this great nation. God bless Texas, and God bless America.”
In March, the former New York Yankees and Texas Rangers star won the Republican primary for Congress with more than 61% of the vote. According to The Associated Press, Teixeira received 54.52% of the vote, compared with 45.48% for Hook, with 99% of votes counted.

After Teixeira retired from baseball, he moved back to Texas with his family. The three-time All-Star thanked his family, friends, campaign staff and supporters throughout the campaign.
“I am truly grateful to all of you. And of course, I want to thank all of the voters across the district who placed their trust in me. Nobody will work harder to continue earning that trust,” Teixeira said in the statement.
Teixeira, who blasted 409 home runs in his 14-year MLB career, might not be done slugging. The former first baseman will have an opportunity to showcase his talent in the Congressional Baseball Game.
Unfortunately for baseball fans, the late, legendary broadcaster John Sterling won’t be able to deliver one of his signature calls.
