Dozens of Con Edison workers showed up to court on Tuesday as Koran Irvine’s alleged killer faced upgraded charges following a grand jury indictment in the suspected road rage shooting.
Victor Romero, a former NYPD detective who had been working as a driver and security guard for a hedge fund, now faces a second-degree murder charge in connection to the fatal shooting of Irvine, 46, on the George Washington Bridge in New York City last week.
Irvine, who leaves behind a wife and two children, worked for the utility company Con Edison for 20 years before Romero, 62, allegedly killed him.

Following a near collision as the two men drove toward the George Washington Bridge, prosecutors allege surveillance video shows the suspect “aggressively tailgating” Irvine’s car before pulling up next to it and firing at least one shot.
Authorities conducted a 24-hour manhunt to locate Romero following the shooting.

Romero is now scheduled for a Supreme Court arraignment on Nov. 23.
