Les Miserables

Dec 28, 2012 -- 10:11am

I highly recommend seeing Les Miserables in the theaters this Christmas/New Year season!  I saw it 3 days ago and it
is still with me, in my gut.  I had never read the book, nor seen the musical production and I  couldn't imagine why such
a tale of suffering would be such a world wide sensation, but it can only be understood upon seeing it.  The
raw emotion in the singing is palpable. There is something about singing already that evokes emotions in us by its
very form, but to pair it with acting is an amazing thing to see and hear.  Bring tissues and have some candy for
comfort and sit and enjoy this wonderful film version of Les Miserable.  First produced as a stage musical in Paris,
in French in 1980, it came to London in English in 1985 and has taken the theater world by storm ever since.  Les Misrables
is the longest running broadway show EVER and it is now accessible to all as a film in movie theaters everywhere.  Go
see it.  Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, and Anne Hathaway as Fantine are excellent.
